What to Expect from Pediatric Sleep Coaching

When you decide to work with a baby sleep coach, you’re not just getting a quick fix. You’re investing in a process that respects your baby’s needs and your parenting style. Here’s what typically happens:

  1. Initial Consultation - You’ll discuss your baby’s current sleep patterns, challenges, and your family’s goals.

  2. Customized Sleep Plan - The coach creates a plan that fits your baby’s age, temperament, and your household routine.

  3. Guided Implementation - You receive ongoing support as you put the plan into action, with adjustments as needed.

  4. Daily sleep log - This is monitored in real time, so your coach can support your families sleep success.

  5. Follow-Up and Maintenance - The coach helps you maintain good sleep habits and troubleshoot any new issues.

This journey is about building confidence and getting your household better sleep, so you can all show up feeling your best. You’ll learn how to read your baby’s sleep cues, create a soothing bedtime routine, and handle night wakings with calm assurance.

Practical Tips to Improve Your Baby’s Sleep Tonight

While working with a sleep coach is a wonderful step, there are some simple things you can start doing right now to help your baby sleep better:

  • Create a consistent bedtime routine - Food, bath, lotion, book, lullaby, and cuddles signal it’s time to sleep.

  • Keep the sleep environment calm and dark - Use blackout curtains and brown noise machine.

  • Know your child’s optimum sleep lengths based on their age. Sleep is well studied. Avoiding over-tiredness, or under tiredness, can improve sleep outcomes tremendously.

  • Avoid overstimulation before bed. - Gentle play, soothing routine, and quiet time help your baby relax. There shouldn’t be any screens for 1.5 hours before bed. TV is more stimulating for baby, they have a harder time getting into a deep sleep after viewing the super stimulating screens we are inundated with nowadays!

  • Be patient - Sleep training is a process, and it’s only one piece of the puzzle. Every small step counts, remember to celebrate little wins!

These small changes can make a big difference. And if you ever feel stuck, remember that a baby sleep coach is just a call away to guide you through.
